We cannot guarantee that a registry will accept a particular name, that a bank will open an account, or that a government office will process within a stated time. We give realistic expectations based on what we currently see and tell you when something is outside our control.

A quick answer is a way of reaching us, not a substitute for advice. What you are told in a text message or a telephone call is general information about how formations and filings usually work, given on the facts as you have described them in a sentence or two. It is not a considered opinion on your circumstances and it should not be relied on as one.

Nothing said in any of those channels creates an engagement, varies our terms, or commits either side to anything. Where a point actually matters we confirm it in writing by email, because an email is a record both sides can return to and a phone call is not. If you are about to act on something you were told on the phone, ask us to put it in an email first. We will not mind.

Replies are written by people during office hours. We may use automation to acknowledge a message outside those hours or to route it to the right person, and anything that arrives that way will be obvious from its content. We do not use it to answer questions about your situation.

Asking a question does not make you a client, and we answer plenty of questions from people who never become one. We begin acting for you when we have set out the work and the fee in writing and you have agreed to it. Until that point nobody here is watching your deadlines, monitoring a registry on your behalf or taking responsibility for a filing, and you should not assume otherwise because a conversation has started.

The reverse holds too. Once we are engaged, the scope is what the engagement says it is. If something falls outside it, such as a state you have not mentioned or a return for a year we were not asked about, we will tell you rather than quietly assume it was included or quietly assume it was not.

Where a page states a filing fee, a threshold or a deadline, it was checked against the relevant state or federal authority at the time the page was written, and where that matters the page says when it was last reviewed. It is still a snapshot. Legislatures change fees, registries change forms and agencies change processing times, sometimes without announcement and occasionally retroactively.

So treat every figure here as an indication of the order of magnitude rather than a quotation. Before anything is filed for you, we confirm the current position with the authority itself and give you the real number. If what we find differs from what this site says, the authority is right and the page is wrong, and we would be glad to be told about it.
